Importance of humidity
Humidity plays a vital role in many industries with countless applications such as reducing the loss of wine through evaporation, upkeeping ideal conditions for storing fruit and vegetables in cold rooms, maintaining the ideal humidity for mushroom production, protecting electronic systems from climate variations, and so much more.
There are a variety of systems to increase humidity, together with many forms of electronic controls including sensors, control panels, data communications and remote management information technology. One system rarely fits all.
At Guimaraens Agricultural Solutions we are able to offer a bespoke system to fit our clients’ specific individual needs at a cost-effective rate. With over 20 years experience in the industry, we work closely with specialist suppliers and engineers to provide the best humidity solution for each case

& benefits
Wineries & Distilleries Reduction in wine and spirit evaporation and improvement of cellar climatic conditions. Improved storage conditions cut down on leakages from barrels and decrease the frequency of topping up. Not only are there great financial benefits from decreasing losses from evaporation and leakage, there are the additional beneficial effects on the quality on the wine.
Cold Storage Accurate humidity control is the key to maintaining quality fresh produce in cold storage. All cold storage systems remove water vapour from the air in the storeroom. The dry air increases dehydration and water loss from the stored product, resulting in lost weight and lost value. For example, potatoes stored without added humidity can lose 10-12% of their weight over six months. We provide dry fog systems that create high humidity levels without wetness, thus preserving the best quality of freshness.
Mushrooms Fresh mushrooms contain about 90% water. Since there is no barrier between the mushroom surface and the air, mushrooms lose water and weight very quickly when the ambient humidity drops below 90%. Accurate humidity and temperature control is essential throughout every stage of mushroom production. Compost must be moist but not wet. We are able to offer appropriate systems and sensors ideal for Mushroom Production.
Dust Suppression Effective dust suppression is necessary to meet environmental air quality standards and protect the health of workers. Most methods of dust suppression involve expensive systems such as bag houses and electrostatic precipitators. We offer cost-effective, efficient systems tailored to the needs of every workplace.

Compressed Air Systems
This system works by transforming compressed air into water; the water particles are then broken down to 10 microns in size, thus creating a “dry fog”. This soon evaporates without wetting the surfaces below.
Guimaraens Agricultural Solutions uses world leading Tabor foggers, whereby the patented acceleration chamber creates an airflow pattern reaching supersonic speeds (2.4 Mach). The airflow sucks in water from a Venturi column. The impact between the supersonic flow of air and the water generates shock waves, which produce the micro-droplets. The "solid cone" jet of micro droplets that is created by the atomizer forms a uniform "dry fog" which evaporates into the air before the droplets reach the floor. The large 1.38 mm opening orifice prevents clogging, making the atomizer maintenance free. Even when water quality is poor or when special crop treatment agents are used, an annual inspection and cleaning is all that is needed.
o This system works especially well in medium to large areas (>200m2) where wetting must not occur.
· Ultrasonic Systems
o The vapour is created by ultrasonic vibration on ceramic plates. These provide the finest mist with water particles up to 6 microns. It is silent and provides rapid evaporation.
o We work in close partnership with Grados, the Spanish engineering company, whose design and engineering has proven highly successful in the manufacture and design of these systems.
o Ultrasonic systems are ideal for smaller areas where in addition to no wetting of surfaces, silence is desired.
· High water pressure Systems
For these systems, the pressure of the water is increased to high levels of up to 80 bar before exciting the foggers, thus creating a fine mist. These systems provide excellent value but have a narrower operating window as compared to the other two systems above in order to prevent wetting the surfaces below. These can be an excellent value option where suitable.
